About me
About
Born January 20, 1968 in Alexandria, Romania. She studied in the fine art academy in Bucharest. Another part of the study was Byzantine art. In the past she painted several Orthodox churches, but meanwhile she followed her passion for fine art, doing different styles of painting. In the last 12 years she lives in The Netherlands in Wierden, teaching courses in painting realistic portraits, abstract and expressionism. Meanwhile she painted the series ‘Space’ inspired by the freedom of the spirit. The other serie is called ‘Zen on the Sea’ ‘is inspired by the desire to learn and experience the state of serenity in any situation …Nowadays she is creating ‘oversized’ portraits. This serie with the title ‘Expressions’ shows the secret of the inner soul of the woman with her individual expressions and emotions.
The portraits are, as it were, blown up to large formats, giving them a monumental character and the ‘message’ becomes more clear. In a very powerful way Laura translates her ideas and inspirations into shape and color on preferably large canvases where the pallet knife is a popular tool in addition to big brushes and towels and her fingers. The oil paint is applied layer by layer, creating a ‘skin’ a texture. The underlying colors, however, continue to play their part and give to the painting a clear and brilliant appearance.
